Architecture And Music
Architecture and Music have so much in common. Architects and Musicians speak in patterns and the vocabulary is surprisingly similar. Rhythm, Melody, Tones…
At this past year’s TED conference in Long Beach, David Byrne did a great talk on how the acoustics of architecture changed music throughout history.
I would love to see a talk about how music influenced architects.
I for one, require music on in the studio in order to function. The music tends to match the style of work I’m doing, but it also changes styles throughout the day; it energizes me and helps me focus.
I just wish more musical terms migrated to the architecture world:
Let’s make more of our buildings Allegretto grazioso!
